TURD POLISHING FOR TRUMP
by Greg Forest

I really have to hand it to the Trump campaign. Not for any political reasons but for their awesome media skill set in trying to hype and sell what is an obvious faulty product.
I’m a music producer and during hard times I am reduced to pretty much working with anyone who comes in the door with a few $$. In many, if not most cases, these “recording artists” are less than talented. Their friends and family have reinforced the ego of these “artists” at karaoke bars and have these poor souls convinced they are the next “big thing.”
Although some can’t carry a tune in a bucket, it is my job, using AutoTune and other digital wizardry, to try to make them appear otherwise. The music industry calls it “Turd Polishing” and although I am not as good as some of the producers and musicians in Nashville at this practice, I’m pretty decent at getting a silk purse from a sonic sow’s ear.
The Trump spokespeople take the cake. My faux praise in the studio for those without talent pales in the light of the Trump campaign where racism, misogyny and xenophobia must not only be defended but promoted. That is a mighty dull turd to polish.
“What did you do today Mommy?”
“I went on TV and told the world that white supremacy is main stream and that the views of racists isn’t offensive to our campaign.”
“Can I stay with Dad next weekend?”
